Workshop

Cr(VI) Substitution in Hard Chrome Plating

Workshop in Brussels 18 September 2026

You are invited to join us in Brussels to engage with a wider discussion on substitution and needs from a Substitution Centre

We shall be hosting a workshop in Brussels on 18 September and we invite stakeholders interested in the benefits of a future Substitution Centre to join discussions and share your views. We encourage all parts of the supply chain including chrome platers, specifiers, alternatives providers, researchers, users, and regulators.

The aim of this workshop is to engage stakeholders in a structured discussion to help shape the development of the substitution roadmap and evaluate where substitution centres may provide practical value.

Discussion topics are expected to include:

  • Present the 'roadmap' structure, as a way of setting out tasks, timing, and actors of substitution activities
  • Discuss representative use cases
  • Explore the main barriers affecting substitution efforts
  • Assess where coordinated support through substitution centres could help mitigate these barriers

We will also hear the latest from the European Commission (DG GROW) on the substitution centres.

Further details of the workshop will be provided closer to the date on this web page, and participants will be provided with an information pack in advance of their attendance.
